The Soil & Water Conservation Districts in the State of Hawai‘i are dedicated to the protection and conservation of soil and water resources in the interest of health, safety, and general welfare of people in this region.
The Maui County consists of five Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCD) – Central Maui, Hana, Olinda-Kula, West Maui and Moloka‘i-Lana‘i. Our efforts are focused on watershed planning, flood prevention, reforestation, runoff control, wildlife habitat and environmental education. We also assist farmers, ranchers, and private land users in making the best use of their natural resources through proper land use planning, design and implementation of best management practices, and use of federal funded farm programs.
